Falling into BBG

Ask me where I was 4 weeks ago, and I can tell you it wasn't a good place. My mind has been racing about the future of my shoppe, working my day job and just being a mom of active kiddos. Oh, and my little brother is getting married in 18 days. I'm pretty sure I heard a motor burn out and possibly seen a trickle of smoke passing by my eyeballs.


And then the mornings and nights got colder. I love Fall. I love the colors, the smells and just being able to layer my clothes. I have so much more enthusiasm to wake up in the morning (ok, that's a bit of a stretch, I'm not a big fan of mornings). But... the creativity is flowing. My Halloween and Fall papers are out and I'm ready to add some new creations to the mix.

I've set some new goals for myself and I look forward to sharing all of my Autumn-inspired creations. Until then...

August Workshops & Events

Wow! I can't believe August is right around the corner. It kind of snuck up on me and now it's time for a new round of classes. Let me start of by saying BBG is open on Tuesdays now, from 10-5 and we are offering $5 kids crafts on Tuesdays, 10-5 and Saturdays, 11-3. There is a variety of crafts to choose from for children ages 4 and up. No reservations are necessary, however, an adult must remain with the child(ren).

Also a reminder that scrapbook crops are held every Friday, 6-11 p.m. ($25) and Saturday, 4-11 p.m. ($35). Reservations are required by the day before the crop. Call me at 335-4741 or email scrappergirl106@gmail.com.

August Schedule:

Wednesday, August 3: Free coupon exchange, 6-8 p.m. It’s where extreme couponers get there start! Bring in your unwanted coupons and exchange for some you need.

Sunday, August 7: Paper Flower Making, 12-3 p.m. Learn how to make at least 3 different types of paper flowers to add to your scrapbook layouts and cards. Cost is $20 and includes all materials. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required. Call Heather at 335-4741 or email scrappergirl106@gmail.com.

Thursday, August 18: Candy Topiary Workshop—for KIDS OF ALL AGES!!! Make a small decorative topiary using a variety of candies. Materials included. Light refreshments will be served. Cost is $15 per person. Registration is required. Call Heather at 335-4741 or email scrappergirl106@gmail.com

Sunday, August 14: Mommy and Me scrapbooking. Archive your family’s memories together from 12-4. Cost is $25 for one adult and one child (each additional child is $5) and includes lunch, beverage and snacks. Space is limited, reservations required. Call Heather at 335-4741 or email scrappergirl106@gmail.com.

Wednesday, August 17: Scrapbooking 101, $20, 6-9 p.m.. Nice start-up class for beginners. BBG will supply enough product for 2 12x12 scrapbook layouts. Students will be taught the basic concepts of scrapbooking with techquiques and tools. Students must bring their own scissors, paper trimmer and adhesive. Registration is required. Call Heather at 335-4741 or emailscrappergirl106@gmail.com.

Sunday, August 21: Paper Bag Album workshop, $20, 12-3 p.m. Make your own brag book out of paper lunch bags. Bring your photos, adhesive, paper trimmer and scisoors and BBG will supply the bags, papers and embellishments. Registration is required. Call Heather at 335-4741 or email scrappergirl106@gmail.com. Upon registration, you will have a choice of a theme for your album.

Saturday, August 27: Mommy and Me scrapbooking. Archive your family’s memories together from 11-3. Cost is $25 and includes lunch, beverage and snacks. Space is limited, reservations required. Call Heather at 335-4741 or email scrappergirl106@gmail.com.

I am in the process of getting an instructor for a cardmaking workshop and will send an update once the details are worked out.

My Go-To Embellishment

So, you are working on a scrapbook layout or card and something is missing--or you just need a pinch of color in an empty spot? What do you reach for? My go-to embellisments are buttons. I don't buy any overly-expensive buttons. I have jars separated by color and when I need a little something, that is normally where I reach.


They are great for the centers of flowers, or tie a piece of ribbon in a bow or knot through the center. I also just cluster them in empty space or add them to pages that have circles.


So the next project you do that leaves you wanting to add a little extra embellishment, just remember those buttons!

Prima Marketing

I'm very excited to be getting Prima Marketing Inc. supplies at BBG. My order has been placed and will hopefully ship soon. I actually just can't wait to start using them! They will be listed for sale as soon as they arrive. The first shipment will include many flowers and I just had to get the WHOLE umbrella line. Until then, I can brainstorm... Heather
