Fabric Wreaths

Needing a little break from paper, I wanted to play with fabric but in a no-sew kind of fun. I had seen fabric ornaments and wreaths and decided to try my hand at them. My mom wanted something for the door anyway so the gears were in motion.

Having a basic idea of how to make them, I surfed the wonderful world of www.youtube.com for fabric wreath making to make sure I would be doing this correctly and off I want for supplies and tons of pretty fabrics.

Not hard to make, but my gosh, I woke up the next morning with fabric pieces EVERYWHERE!!! And I think my muscles from my forearm to my neck are toning nicely ;) I just love how pretty and full they are and versatile. I'm making my own for my door and now am thinking of making some smaller candle rings in Christmas colors for some holiday decor. Oh, and ornaments. I bought a pack of 3" balls from my local craft store to add some sparkle to my blue, silver and white Christmas tree this year.

For the do-it-yourselfers, my friend has awesome tutorials here. For those who would just rather have someone do it for them, they are available for purchase at BBG.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Fall Y'all. In the Autumn spirit, I'm thinking of falling leaves, pumpkins and apple picking.

I just wanted to share a favorite recipe of mine that is yum and super easy.

Easy Apple Cake

Ingredients:
8 apples, peeled and diced
2 cups flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Mix the diced apples and sugar and let sit for 20 minutes to make a natural juice. Add all the rest of the ingredients and hand mix (do not use a mixer). Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

Enjoy!

The stuff scrapbooks are made of...

My little cousin is getting married this weekend. Amid the stress of dress hunting, arrangements for the kiddos and realizing I’m going dateless, I stopped to focus on all the good that’s going on. I used to babysit this beautiful little girl who is now a beautiful woman. I’m still in shock she’s grown and getting married but I can’t wait to see her walk down the aisle.
The other reason this weekend is so special is a bit more involved. I’m meeting long-lost family:)
Back in our teens, my cousin (now 33), found a certificate of live birth for a woman named Veronica my grandmother gave up for adoption. What??? Gramma Bea gave a up baby girl? The woman who could give the family answers had long since passed and left us with this mystery. Who and where is Veronica? My cousin and aunt went through spurts of trying to find her--researching records at the libraries, looking online, etc.,--to no avail. I personally tend to be an out-of-sight, out-of-mind kind of gal (character flaw, sorry).
Now, nearly 15 years later and through the wonderful world of Facebook, Veronica found us. She messaged another one of my cousins asking if she was any relation to Beatrice and it fireballed from there.
I have an new aunt. I have cousins--one of whom was childhood friends with one of my best friends growing up.
So, cheers to meeting new family and welcoming them to this dysfunction.

My Go-To Embellishment

So, you are working on a scrapbook layout or card and something is missing--or you just need a pinch of color in an empty spot? What do you reach for? My go-to embellisments are buttons. I don't buy any overly-expensive buttons. I have jars separated by color and when I need a little something, that is normally where I reach.

They are great for the centers of flowers, or tie a piece of ribbon in a bow or knot through the center. I also just cluster them in empty space or add them to pages that have circles.

So the next project you do that leaves you wanting to add a little extra embellishment, just remember those buttons!

'Til next time :)

Prima Marketing

I'm very excited to be getting Prima Marketing Inc. supplies at BBG. My order has been placed and will hopefully ship soon. I actually just can't wait to start using them! They will be listed for sale as soon as they arrive. The first shipment will include many flowers and I just had to get the WHOLE umbrella line. Until then, I can brainstorm... Heather

Metamorphoisis

With the new year, I wanted to take BippityBoppityGlue to a new level and introduce new services. My first acquisition was http://www.bippityboppityglue.com/. My new shop will offer all of the supplies I use in my creations for sale from companies such as Prima Marketing Inc., Lily Bee Design, Jenni Bowlin, Cosmo Cricket, Crate Paper....and the list keeps growing. Items are being added daily.
I will also be offering BBG Friday Night Picks. Every Friday night, themed scrapbook kits will be listed for sale. The kits will include high quality papers, florals, fibers and embellishments--all within the same theme at an affordable price. The first kits will be listed the first Friday in March.
One of BBG's biggest changes so far this year is thanks to graphic designer Jennifer Stuart of studio71design on Etsy http://www.studio71design.etsy.com/. This blog and my Etsy shop have received a makeover and Jennifer gave my shop the exact look I was going for. I have gone to Jen for a few jobs now and she continues to wow me! She is also responsible for the design of my other shop, http://www.monstrocity.etsy.com/. Thanks so much, Jen!
I thank all of my Facebook fans and Twitter followers for the support so far and continue to look forward to growing with you!
Lots of Love,
Heather
